SGPC chief Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar written a letter to Indian PM Narinder Modi asking him to celebrate the day of establishment of Khalsa i.e. vaisakhi of 1699 as "SIKH DAY" nation wide.
In the letter quoting the Sikh history Prof. Badungar in year 1699 guru Gobind singh founded the Khalsa by baptizing 5 people from different origins making them the first panj pyaras on the day of Vaisakhi.
He further explained the foundation of Khalsa was on the grounds of equality of race, caste, creed and color which makes the Sikhs discrimination free.
He also added that the motive behind founding the Khalsa was creating equality on all grounds and spreading the message of equality as well.
Mentioning the sacrifices given by the Sikhs for the nation he urged prime minister Narinder Modi to celebrate Vaisakhi nation wide and declare it as 'Sikh Day' in honour of Sikhs.
This scenario came to existence as an extension after the USA congress was celebrating Khalsa Foundation day as Sikh national day as it was declared.
