This is an after math of Canadian parliament passing a resolution declaring November 1984 killing of Sikhs an act of genocide.

 

All India Sikh Students Federation urges the Punjab Assembly to declare the 1984 Sikh genocide resolution.

On 9th April 2017 in AISSF president Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad addressing a press conference in Mohali, Punjab urged the Punjab assembly to pass the resolution praising Liberal member of assembly Harinder Kaur Malhi who took a similar petition the Canadian parliament in Ontario state.

He added that the mass killing of Sikhs in different states of India in November 1984 not communal riots but a pre-planned action on a group or community which counts to be a genocide.

He also added that at the time of tension in Punjab many Sikh families took shelter in other Countries like Canada USA etc. and step like passing such a resolution in Canada can be counted as a big step towards recognition of genocide.

Lastly he urged the Punjab and Indian government to take similar steps.
