{"id":2486,"date":"2015-07-25T22:25:21","date_gmt":"2015-07-25T16:55:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hanssarvar.com\/?p=2486"},"modified":"2015-07-25T22:25:21","modified_gmt":"2015-07-25T16:55:21","slug":"singh-wins-american-junior-national-title-in-weight-lifting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hanssarvar.com\/index.php\/2015\/07\/25\/singh-wins-american-junior-national-title-in-weight-lifting\/","title":{"rendered":"Singh Wins American Junior National Title in Weight Lifting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-iceapc=\"1\" data-iceapw=\"13\"><strong data-iceapw=\"13\">Amitoj Singh Chhabra won the Junior <span id=\"IL_AD6\" class=\"IL_AD\">National Title<\/span> at the United States Power lifting <span id=\"IL_AD5\" class=\"IL_AD\">National Championship<\/span>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-iceapc=\"1\" data-iceapw=\"13\"><a href=\"http:\/\/hanssarvar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/art05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-2487 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/hanssarvar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/art05-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"art05\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hanssarvar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/art05-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/hanssarvar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/art05-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/hanssarvar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/art05.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-iceapw=\"68\">RENO \u2013 Reno\u2019s Amitoj Chhabra won the Junior National Title at the U.S. Powerlifting National Championships in Las Vegas last weekend.<br \/>\n\u201cIt was surreal. I worked really hard for this,\u201d said Chhabra. \u201cI worked really hard for this. It was a long journey. I\u2019ve been working out since I was 14; competitively powerlifting since last May. I\u2019ve got a lot of great people behind me, like my coach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-iceapw=\"36\">His trainer, Adam Lauritzen of Silverback Strength and Conditioning, has helped Chhabra add over 100 pounds on his deadlift in the last year alone. He topped out at 573 pounds to propel him to the title.<\/p>\n<p data-iceapw=\"29\">\u201cI\u2019m extremely proud. It\u2019s pretty amazing, really,\u201d said Lauritzen. \u201cHe\u2019s got the genetic talent, he\u2019s got the work <span id=\"IL_AD1\" class=\"IL_AD\">ethic<\/span>. And that only comes along every once in a while.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-iceapw=\"40\">Chhabra won the title in the full power Raw event, a combination of three lifts. The bench press, the squat and the deadlift. He finished with 1,383 total pounds to win the Junior Championship in the 198 pound weight class.<\/p>\n<p data-iceapw=\"47\">\u201cI\u2019m not satisfied with my performance,\u201d admitted Chhabra. \u201cI had to cut about 20 pounds (to make weight) and I think I could have done better, especially in the squat and the bench. Other than that, it feels great. All the hard work, it\u2019s all paid off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-iceapw=\"60\">The <span id=\"IL_AD2\" class=\"IL_AD\">Galena<\/span> <span id=\"IL_AD4\" class=\"IL_AD\">High School graduate<\/span> has been dominating the Junior circuit for a while now. He broke four <span id=\"IL_AD7\" class=\"IL_AD\">Nevada<\/span> state records back in October at the Central California Open. That was in the 18-19 age division. He now competes in the 20-23 age group, where he still holds those same records. He currently has seven Nevada state records.<\/p>\n<p data-iceapw=\"60\">\"\u2018He\u2019s just going to <span id=\"IL_AD3\" class=\"IL_AD\">get stronger<\/span>,\u201d said Lauritzen. \u201cSo our job now is to make sure he keeps progressing and stays healthy enough to continue going up.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019d like to dominate in the open division as well. My goal is to dominate,\u201d added Chhabra. \u201cI don\u2019t want to just focus on Junior.
